Dichotomy
Brisbane Ballet
Brisbane Ballet returns in March with the stunning contemporary dance piece, Dichotomy, performing for 2 nights only at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, Kangaroo Point.
Incorporating two dance works, In Flux and Spectrum, this double bill choreographed by Emrys Goldsworthy, premiered in December 2020. Following rave reviews, Brisbane Ballet will re-stage Dichotomy on Friday, March 5 and Saturday, March 6, 2021.
In Flux is a post-classical ballet, performed by 5 dancers, that pays homage to neoclassical choreographers George Balanchine and Kenneth MacMillan, with augmented balletic lines and flourishing turns and gravity defying lifts. Set to Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor and with a royal blue, light pink and white colour palette, In Flux is an exhilarating and joyous dance work.
With cinematic orchestral music by Joby Talbot, Brisbane Ballet ventures into uncharted choreographic territory with Spectrum - an emotionally charged contemporary dance work. Together and apart, 6 dancers express a spectra of internal dialogues and emotions.
Need to know - Performances are 1 hour and 15 minutes with a 15 minute interval. There is free parking for up to 56 cars at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, with on-street parking also available nearby. Ferries also depart every 15 minutes from Eagle Street Pier to Holman Street (a 5-minute walk away).
