Forgery
Australasian Dance Collective
Australasian Dance Collective's Forgery is a a stunning show that is completely unknown - for not just the audience, but the dancers too - at the Cremorne Theatre, QPAC from Sep 22 - Oct 2, 2021.
The theatre darkens and the lights come up as a computer takes creative control of the six dancers, with a complex series of algorithms and cutting-edge technology dictating each performance.
Developed by award-winning Australian dancer, sound designer, choreographer and creative coder, Alisdair Macindoe, the six renowned Australasian Dance Collective dancers will be fed instructions live on stage. From opening night to closing, every show will be completely unique.
“Standing in front of hundreds of people who are expecting a performance, with no idea about what you are going to do is probably one of the hardest things a performer can do,” Alisdair Macindoe says.
With the program’s algorithms also in charge of lighting, costumes and music, ADC courageously embraces this bespoke technology to pose questions about creative agency in the digital age.
Forgery is presented by Australasian Dance Collective and Queensland Performing Arts Centre in association with Brisbane Festival.
