Lord Mayor's Photographic Awards
Brisbane
Lord Mayor's Photographic Awards are back for 2023, so photographers and would-be photographers of Brisbane - it's time to get out and about in our beautiful city and start snapping!
Entries are open to anyone who lives, works or studies in Brisbane and this year's theme, Rediscover Brisbane through a new lens, asks photographers to think outside the box and bring the unexpected into view.
Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner said, “I’m asking Brisbane’s photographers to dig a little deeper and capture anything and everything from subterranean secrets to kaleidoscopic skies, bustling bayside precincts to tranquil hilltop escapes."
“Brisbane is a such a great place to live, work and relax and we want to see those otherwise unknown favourite experiences, unique places and memorable moments in this year’s photos."
The photography awards encourage entries from hobby snappers to professional photographers with photos able to be uploaded via the entry form on Council’s website. There are multiple categories you can enter including Student, Green Heart and LaVonne Bobongie Award, a special category introduced in 2021 to recognise late artist’s contribution to Brisbane as an advocate of First Nations Country, community and identity.
“Brisbane has again shown this year that we are a resilient city, supported by a vibrant and strong community. Our annual photographic awards are a small way our residents, regardless of their photography skills, can celebrate the moments, places and people that make our city what it is and a great place to live,” said Schrinner.
"For a budding photographer, a win like this allows investment in professional gear to further their hobby or profession or take a photography course."
"I really encourage our local photographers to showcase Brisbane’s hidden gems."
