BEERHAUS AT BOWEN HILLS HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Beerhaus is a colossal German beer hall occupying the iconic Royal Snack Bar building at the edge of the Brisbane Showgrounds at Bowen Hills.

The nostalgic landmark has been transformed into a stunning industrial chic pavilion with soaring ceilings, a striking bar in the centre, ping pong and Fusseball tables and astroturf garden.

Standing sentry at the entrance to the funky Welcome to Bowen Hills eat street, the Beerhaus faces off with the Brisbane Showgrounds across the road. Here’s the place to find rollicking good times, fun and games, copious beer and cheap eats every day of the year until late.

Beerhaus has 40 beers on tap, including everything from local craft to imports including German brews are rarities such as Laguritas from California. And if you’re not into beer, there’s wines, bubbles (including Moet et Chandon), espresso martinis on tap, frozen margaritas and crafty beer cocktails as well as a great range of flavoured schnapps.

Like the drinks list, the impressive food menu features German, American and Australian flavours with a creative twist. For Starters there’s giant pretzels, mac and cheese balls, loaded fries and spicy squid. Platters are a great group share deal with options including a Sausage Platter (with sausage flavours such as pork, maple & bacon, chicken and coriander or an extra long Frankfurter), working up to The Epic Sports Feast for 4, featuring giant pretzels, mac and cheese balls, a whole roast chicken, mash potato, cheese kransky, chicken wings and loaded fries.

Otherwise Signature Dishes include Bavarian or Sausage Tasting Platters for one, The Famous Crispy Pork Knuckle, Fish & Chips and Crackling Pork Belly. Another house specialty is the Beerhaus BBQ, with choices of BBQ Schnitzel, smoked pork belly and Spiced Rub Wagyu and another the Schnitzels which come classic or loaded (Including Mexican, American, Canadian and Hawaiian).

And for those after something lighter, the Beerhaus has a Build Your Own Salad or Wrap option, where you choose your own ‘cheese’, ‘stuffing’, ‘protein’, ‘leaves’ and ‘Haus made dressing’. At each table are salad menus with all the options to tick off and hand in at the bar, where all food orders are taken.

Dessert-wise, there’s Belgian waffles, apple strudel cinnamon sugar Pretzel donuts and, in another nod to the Royal Snack Bar, Ekka-style strawberry sundaes with a twist.

Not just a place to eat drink and be merry, Beerhaus has plenty to keep the crowds entertained, with live music and games on weekends and all kinds of lures throughout the week:

Need to know - All food orders are taken at the bar. There is on-street parking in surrounding streets.

The menu may have changed since our visit.
