Brisbane Buddha Birth Day Festival 2021
Brisbane’s iconic Buddha Birth Day Festival celebrations are happening at the splendid Chung Tian Temple this year from May 14-16, 2021, a move from the home of previous years' celebrations, South Bank Parklands.*
The beautiful serene grounds of Chung Tian Temple will come to life for three days with a diverse range of multicultural performances, activities, workshops and blessings.
Visitors are invited to come along and enjoy the Multicultural Grand Offering, art displays, incense offering, Buddhist talks; Chinese lion dances, multicultural performances, and a colourful market of craft and merchandise stalls.
Join the Light Offering Ceremony, watch the traditional Bathing the Buddha and Baby Blessing Ceremony; enjoy a little Tea Chan, make an Incense offering or participate in the many Meditation and Tai Chi classes.
While you're there, you can feast in a wide variety of delicious vegetarian food from the four corners of Asia, and refresh with a coffee or tea. There's also a range of free children's activities on offer.
*While the main Buddha Birth Day Celebrations have moved to Chung Tian Temple, South Bank Parklands will be adorned with red Chinese lanterns, with the Blessing of the Bodhi Tree taking place in front of the Gallery of Modern Art and the traditional Bathing the Baby Buddha happening next to the Wheel of Brisbane from May 1-2.
Need to know - There is plenty of free parking available at Chung Tian Temple. Entry is free and this is a COVID-safe event.
