Speakeasy Saturday

The Workshops Rail Museum

Turn back the clock to the 1920’s Prohibition era at The Workshops Rail Museum on Speakeasy Saturday.

This monthly event is a celebration of the fascinating and gritty police exhibition Underworld: Mugshots from the Roaring Twenties, which visitors can view whilst there on the day.

Speakeasy Saturday will feature screenings of famous Buster Keaton movies from 9.30am-12pm.

From 10am-11am visitors can join in a Swing Dancing Lesson with social dance straight out of the era.

There's also the chance to view the intriguing Glass Plates and Rail Justice, an intimate exhibition exploring the Queensland Railways in the 1920s, its use of photography and an insight into how the railways dealt with rule breakers in the ranks.

Program for January 19th:

9.30-12 - The Blacksmith (1922) starring Buster Keaton

11-12 - Swing Dance Lesson and Social Dance with Corner Pocket Swing.

1.30-3 - Talk - Bring in the Dogs with Dog Squad's Sergeant Sean Baxendell

Need to know –  Together with the Underworld exhibition, entry is included in the general admission tickets to The Workshops Rail Museum.
