King Arthur Cafe
Fortitude Valley
King Arthur Cafe is a sunlit two-story cafe found in a World War II army hangar on a side street in the Valley serving well-brewed Coffee Supreme alongside a simple yet inspired menu.
Just off James Street in the stylish shopping/dining precinct, beside Leona Edmiston's vintage boutique, King Arthur is the latest venture from the same great team behind South Brisbane's Merriweather Cafe.
Like Merriweather, the menu is seasonal with an emphasis on locally sourced produce. Open daily for breakfast and lunch, breakfast fare ranges from quinoa and chai porridge with fresh figs and sourdough crumpets with rhubarb and honeycomb crumble to Mt Cotton mushrooms pan frittata with sorrel, green chilli and chevre and griddled flatbread with chickpeas, beans and fried duck egg.
Lunch, available after 11am, includes top-notch foodie fare like tarragon gnocchi and roasted duck with fig, blue cheese and homemade flatbread; or try one of their gourmet sandwiches or fresh salads from the display case.
Sit upstairs in the airy loft with sun streaming in and enjoy excellent coffee accompanied by a cherry ripe muffin, housemade jam filled cinnamon brioche or perfect pastry from Salisbury's Sprout Artisan Bakery.
Besides coffee, customers can sip tea, smoothies, cold press juices and old-fashioned sodas.
Need to know - King Arthur Cafe is dog-friendly, with well-mannered pooches allowed to accomany owners downstairs.
