NUTMEG INDIAN CUISINE HAS CLOSED.

Nutmeg Indian Cuisine is the newest addition to the Albion dining precinct, offering a modern take on Indian dining alongside classic and traditional Indian dishes.

Tucked away on Sandgate Road, this family business owned and operated by chef Binu and wife Laxmi, is named after the world's favourite spice, nutmeg. A welcome addition to the Indian restaurant scene in Brisbane, Nutmeg provides a flavour journey like no other.

Diners are welcomed into this earthy-yet-exotic restaurant with a charming, modern dining room that provides a relaxed ambience to sit back and enjoy some spicy delights.

The staff are attentive and friendly, and the progressive Indian food is delicious, with a mouth-watering menu that is diverse and complex offering unique flavours with a modern Indian twist.

Entrees include samosa swirls, Tiger prawns stir-fried in house-made sweet chilli jam, and pepper lamb sliders - slow-cooked lamb served with pickled onion relish and mint salsa. A great way to start the evening.

The main menu is a delicious blend of traditional and modern Indian cuisine, including Nutmeg's signature dishes: Bombay Chicken Curry and Lime and Chilli Chicken - an interesting mix of green chilli, mint and lime, described on the menu as a Spicy Chicken Mojito.

In addition, there are classics like Butter Chicken, Tikka Masala, Korma, Vindaloo and Goat Curry; plus vegetarian dishes such as Paneer Butter Masala, Saag Aloo and Dal Makhini - black lentils and kidney beans slow-cooked for 12 hours with butter, spices and cream for that unique Indian flavour.

Nutmeg is child-friendly with an extensive kids menu, providing generously sized dishes such as Chicken Korma with rice. Children's meals are served with a pappadam, juice box and vanilla ice-cream with choice of topping.

The wine list has a top-shelf selection of quality Australian, NZ and Italian wines. The Indian Kingfisher Lager is also worth a try. Otherwise, there are craft beers and spirits; while non-alcoholic drinks include soft drinks and mango lassi (Indian Alphanso mangos blended with fresh yoghurt).
