Shanti Indo Lankan Restaurant

Darra

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Shanti Indo-Lankan, nestled next to Woolworths in a little shopping complex in Darra is a little slice of Sri Lanka on Sundays.

At lunchtime well-dressed families and couples pack into the slick no frills eatery for a traditional Sri Lankan 'buffet', with tiffin (a light lunch resembling a tasting platter) as a specialty.

The latter comes highly recommended, at fantastic value, especially for those who wish to sample the cuisine. Options include the string hoppers (a bowl shaped rice flour steamed pancake) served with sothi (mild yellow curry) and sambal, delicious dosa or idli (steamed rice cakes) served with sambal and chutney. Or try the Pittu – a delicious steamed rolled pancake of coconut and rice flour.

Supplement the tiffin with fried delicacies such as tiny lamb, fish or vege rolls, samosas or vada (lentil, chilli and onion fried in oil).

Nice to kow - On the last Sunday of the month Shanti Indo-Lankan hosts a seafood buffet.
