TABOO
Fortitude Valley
Updated: Oct 21, 2025
Tucked away on the rooftop above The Constance Hotel, the gorgeous and unique retreat blends the vibe of a secret garden with the edge of a contemporary rooftop restaurant and bar.
Entry to TABOO is via a street art adorned laneway that runs alongside The Constance Hotel, where at the end there's an elevator that whisks you up to the rooftop.
The decor features a striking blend of monochrome green tones, rich textures, and moody lighting, creating a space that feels sleek yet tactile, airy yet intimate by day or night.
The menu at TABOO pushes boundaries, delivering the punchy, fresh and flamboyant elements of Thai cuisine through a contemporary lens. Head Chef Alec Kapitz—formerly of Cloudland—has joined forces with Executive Chef of the Group, Benson Skelton, to craft a breakfast menu* that is worth waking up and travelling for.
Breakfast offerings include coconut pancakes (with whipped coconut cream, salted Thai caramel & coconut chips); maple lime French toast (lightly battered brioche, with lime maple syrup glaze & fresh seasonal berries); king prawn scramble (chargrilled Mooloolaba prawns, chilli scrembled eggs, fresh chives & red curry butter); and Thai 'eggs Benny' (crispy pork belly, roti, buttered spinach & Thai red curry Hollandaise).
For those who want to make an occasion of it, there's a 'Brunch Club' Banquet, a chef-curated showcase of Brunch favourites (min. 2 people), starting with freshly shucked Sydney Rock oysters with zesty Nam Jim granita and Kingfish & green mango ceviche (kingfish, green mango, papaya. vermicelli. crispy shallots & tamarind)..
Next there's golden lemongrass fish cakes (infused with lemongrass, kaffir lime & served with sweet chilli and apple); Crying Tiger striploin (chargrilled wagyu striploin marinated in Crying Tiger spices, with Nam Jim Jaew; Thai herb salad; and to finish, mango & coconut sago pudding (coconut sago, fresh mango, lychee & mango sorbet).
To accompany, as well as a selection of coffee (hot & iced), chai and loose leaf tea, there are house specialty drinks such as strawberry matcha basil; citrus tonic cold brew (St Ali orthodox cold brew with Strangelove tonic and fresh orange); and Golden Mont Blanc (St Ali cold bew over vanilla cream, infused with cinnamon, cardamon, nutmeg & orange zest) as well as a selection of house-made fresh juices.
Also on the way is a bespoke cocktail menu that will be delicately crafted around Thai flavours, while the wine list will offfer a selection of 100 handpicked bottles spanning classic labels and progressive new-wave producers with a specialty range of effervescent Pet-Nat wines.
