Technicolour Chinese New Year Night Market

Get your Chinese New Year off to a prosperous start with the Technicolour Chinese New Year Night Market at the Multicultural Community Centre in Newmarket on Saturday, February 13, 2021. 

As its name implies, this mid-summer night market will be a colourful and festive affair celebrating an important cultural part of the Chinese calendar, the Lunar New Year. According to the traditional Chinese zodiac, 2021 is the ox's year, symbolising strength and wealth.

Visitors of all ages are invited to welcome a new lunar year together with this free-entry event dressed in red and gold. Browse handcrafted wares in the marketplace, enjoy delicious Asian cuisine, and try your hand at the ancient art of calligraphy at a free workshop.

Meanwhile, traditional entertainment will include lion dances, Chinese cultural shows and much more. You can also try your luck with a fortune wheel where you could win prizes generously donated by local businesses.

Need to know - Attendees are welcome to come at any time between 4-9 p.m. but need to register for the show at either 5pm or 6.30pm.
