Double Shot Espresso

The best things are almost always found in out of the way places and no more so than Double Shot Espresso, a pocket-sized cafe sequestered amongst the apartment blocks of Oxlade Drive.

Breakfast at Double Shot is a simple died-and-gone-to-heaven affair, with the signature dish being a flaky pastry tart filled with fluffy scrambled eggs with tomato and bacon or smoked salmon and other tempters including Croque Madame, frittata of the day with tomato bruschetta, Turkish toasties of all varieties or bubble and squeak with poached eggs.

Star of the lunch menu has many candidates – think home made chicken terrine pressed with slow roasted garlic, basil and pistachios or Thai style salad with poached chicken and avo but it's hard to go past the deli platter – a luscious compilation that includes chick pea puree, prosciutto parma, buffalo mozzarella, roast peppers and eggplant and fennel seed and garlic salami.

And in case of a quick drop-in, the perfectly brewed coffee is Abrisca, the tea is a selection of Infused Tea and to accompany Michael bakes a delectable daily dose of sweet stuff in-house from his range of 25 specialties which include home made Lindt Rocky Road, short bread and Kourimbethes (Greek almond biscuits).

Dog owners can happily bring their 4 legged companions along too as the boys keep a fresh bowl of dog water out front by the rock garden.
