Ken Fletcher Park

Tennyson

Tennyson's new state of the art riverfront park, named after local tennis great Ken Fletcher, is a drawcard for all ages, with a fantastic industrial power station themed playground, barbecue pavilions, a waterfront picnic terrace, amphitheatre, public pontoon (for non-motorized watercraft), plenty of parking and access for the disabled.

For children there's one of the best climbing apparatuses we've seen anywhere – a labyrinth of netting, ropes and webs suited for all ages, encased with power house themed placards and centred around steel chimneys modelled on those that were once the landmark of the old Tennyson Powerhouse that could be seen for miles around Brisbane.

In addition children can get messy with sand and water play, there are a variety of swings, a fortress, see saw, hurdy gurdy and paths that wind in and out for novice bike and scooter riders, and, to on the waterfront, some relic steel girders and the ruin of a brick building from the powerhouse days.

Need to know: this park has an amenities block but some of the play equipment (including the climbing frames) is lacking in shade.
