Doujo Japanese Restaurant

Stones Corner

DOUJO JAPANESE HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Doujo is a funky little Japanese eatery in Stones Corner offering authentic fare from homemade dumplings and sushi rolls to teriyaki chicken and wagyu steak, served alongside beer, sake and soju.

Located down Stoneham Lane behind the Stones Corner Hotel, where Tuckeria once was, brightly-coloured murals cover the walls, Japanese lanterns hang from the ceiling and little tables fill the airy space.

Open daily for lunch and dinner, budget lunch options range from bento boxes (filled with your choice of chicken teriyaki, tempura, tofu or sashimi, to name a few) and sushi rolls like double salmon, prawn tempura and vegetable.

Otherwise, you can order off the full menu which consists of entrees, salads and gourmet mains. An extensive list of starters includes miso soup, pork dumplings (gyoza), agedashi tofu (deep-fried tofu in light soy soup), nasu dengaku (eggplant tossed in miso paste) and the highly-recommended kani kara - deep-fried, marinated soft-shell crab served with sweet chilli mayo.

Salads range from seaweed and salmon to tofu and tamagoyaki - rolled omelette with lettuce, carrot, tomato and sesame dressing; while heartier appetites can tuck into tofu or chicken curry, and teriyaki chicken or beef served on a bed of rice or udon noodles. Standouts include unagi don (grilled eel), wagyu steak and sukiyaki hotpot - beef, tofu, and mushroom soup with sukiyaki sauce served on rice.

Licensed, Doujo stocks an extensive range of sake as well as a small range of beer such as Sapporo, Asahi, VB and Guinness.
