Chumley Warner's British Fish'n'chips

Birkdale

Updated: Dec 20, 2018

The only place in Brisbane to serve traditional British sea fare from haddock, plaice, scampi and mushy peas to pickled eggs and pasties, Chumley Warner’s is located at Birkdale, with a second shop at North Lakes.

And with its overtones of the British seaside, the Bay is the perfect locale for this shop where fish and thick hand-cut chips come tightly wrapped in butcher paper.

But it’s not just about seafood here – there’re steak and Guinness pies, battered black pudding or sausages, pea fritters and even deep fried British Mars bars.

Thursday night is Scottish Supper night featuring battered haggis and Wednesday lunch time has Seniors specials including North Atlantic salmon for $10. There are also children’s specials involving bite-sized battered fish with accompaniments.

Lastly this is one of the rare eating outlets in the world wherein a patron will waltz up and be overheard cheerily ordering a couple of faggots (a type of traditional offal meatball).
