The Garden Bar

Fortitude Valley

THE GARDEN BAR HAS CLOSED.

The Garden is Baedeker's secret old-world garden bar, nestled outside the landmark historic Baedeker building alongside one of Brisbane's oldest railway lines.

Entry is through the colonial-style Baedeker Wine Bar, either via the revolving book case (which leads to a gothic dining room) or another door on the side.

The enchanting al fresco space is festooned with strings of lights and hanging ferns and features an outdoor undercover bar, rattan hanging chairs and patio furniture reminiscent of an English garden.

The Garden Baedeker

Open on Friday and Saturday nights only* (until late) The Garden is the perfect retreat for a glass of wine craft beer or cocktail such as the signature Baedeker Mule( vodka, ginger beer, elderflower liqueur and fresh lime). There's also a good selection of spirits, with a focus on whisky and gin (from Baedeker;s gin wall).

The Garden Bar Baedeker

When it comes to food Baedeker's concise bar menu is one of the best around, with snacks such as house spiced nuts and BBQ corn or twice cooked potato chips, through tapas such as Spanish sardines with grain toast, red peppers and lemon, forest mushroom arancini or scorched brie with lavosh and quince gel.

The Garden Baedeker

A customer fave is the lamb roll (slow roasted lamb with caramelized onion and Jack cheese on brioche roll) and the Baedeker Board (assorted meats, cheese and wafers); and for something a bit heartier there's Torbreck shiraz braised beef cheek with balsamic mash and grain crusted carrot.

Need to know - The Garden is available for functions, with a capacity from 20-120.
