Caneca Espresso & Bar

New Farm

CANECA ESPRESSO AND BAR WAS DAMAGED IN A FIRE IN DECEMBER 2019 AND IS CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Caneca Espresso and Bar is a South American-inspired cafe and tapas bar in New Farm housed in a quaint old Queenslander on Brunswick Street.

Located opposite New Farm Cinemas, Caneca provides dining inside the charming space with character features like a stained glass window and pressed tin ceiling, as well as al fresco on the inviting veranda.

Caneca Espresso & Bar, New Farm

An all-day breakfast menu boasts classics like eggs benedict and avocado on toast with Persian feta, plus South American influenced dishes such as rabanada (Brazilian French toast) with cachaça poached strawberries, vanilla ricotta and pistachio floss, feijoada (8 hours slow-cooked cassoulet made with black beans, chorizo, morcilla, pork hock and sofrito) and sweet corn and manchego cheese croquettes served with preserved lemon poached eggs and zucchini, mint and habita salad.

Lunch, served from 11:30, includes ham and cheese toasties with sobrassada and oaxaca cheese on sourdough, peri-peri chicken burgers on brioche buns, and slow roasted pork belly bites with Ximinez glazed pineapple and ancho chiles.

Coffee on pour is by Dimattina, best accompanied with a house made muffin or fresh pastry or croissant from Danny's Bread.  In addition, Caneca is licensed with local craft beer on tap, spirits and a carefully curated wine list.

Nice to know - In the near future, patrons will able to pop into Caneca before or after a movie to enjoy a tipple and tapas.
