Wau Kitchen

Kangaroo Point

WAU KITCHEN HAS CLOSED IN 2022.

Wau Kitchen in Kangaroo Point is a funky African-inspired eatery with a friendly vibe offering Afro-fusion fare.

Perched on Main Street, a short stroll to Kangaroo Points Cliff Park, this unpretentious eatery with the shabby shopfront provides dining inside decked out with rattan chairs and wicker lampshades, and outside in a quaint courtyard complete with potted plants.

The flavour-filled menu features dishes that originate from all over Africa with starters ranging from falafals and samosas to fried chicken drumsticks coated in dry jollof mix.

Main meals include Chicken Jollof Rice (chicken, tomatoes, onion, garlic and red chilli mixed with West African spices), Misir (an authentic Ethiopian dish of lentils flavoured with berbere spices) and from South Sudan - Fish Tilpia (whole fish seasoned with garlic and lemon, served with pawpaw, tomato and mint). All meals are served with either injera, rice or chapati

If you have room left over for dessert, there's Basbousa (Egyptian semolina and coconut cake) and Baklava (flaky filo pastry made with pistachios and walnuts with a sweet honey lemon syrup poured over while warm).

The drinks menu consists of coffee, tea, fresh juices, milkshakes and mocktails including the Wau Special (curacao, blueberries, lemonade, mint and smoked cinnamon) and Africana (mango, passionfruit, pineapple and orange juice). Wau Kitchen is also BYO
