Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Mickle Pickle Espresso is a funky foodie’s cafe run by an ex-Masterchef candidate*, found in an unlikely location on Tingalpa’s busy Wynnum Rd.

And whether a local or traveller en route to Wynnum or Manly, it makes a worthy stop for a delicious all day breakfast and an excellent cup of coffee - look out for the Vespa which stands sentry out front on the astro-turfed terrace.

Drop by for something as simple as toast with spreads, fruit toast, Bircher Muesli, Smashed Avo on rye from nearby Uncle Bob’s Bakery or Poached/fried/scrambled eggs with sourdough and relish, all for under $10.

On the heartier side there’s Eggs Benny with sourdough, served with spinach and Hollandaise sauce and a choice of ham/bacon or smoked salmon, a Paleo Brekky incorporating the works – bacon, eggs, mushroom, tomato, spinach, avo and Paleo sourdough.

Roasted Field Mushrooms, spinach, feta, balsamic and house made pesto

Otherwise try one of chef Michael’s signature dishes like the highly recommended Roasted Field Mushrooms, spinach, feta, balsamic and house made pesto or Smoked Ham Hock House beans, topped with fried egg, on soy and linseed sourdough.

Coffee at Mickle Pickle is well-brewed Genovese and other drinks include iced coffee or chocolate , pomegranate or mango frappes, all manner of shakes, banana or mango smoothies, Grubb Bros cold brew, coconut water and Soho organic soft drinks.

Need to know – Mickle Pickle is child-friendly, with a kids table with cute toadstool seats and a basket of toys and books outside on the astroturf; it is also dog-friendly, with a water bowl provided and spot to secure pooch at the bicycle racks.

Nice to know – There is free off-street parking adjacent to Mickle Pickle. Those in a hurry can text ahead for coffee.
