Chiharu Shiota: Up Late is coming to GOMA in August with two stunning nights of live Australian music, DJs, bars and themed pop-up experiences alongside the enthralling large-scale installations.

Up Late will make for a unique experience of ‘The Soul Trembles’, with the major work in the Long Gallery, Uncertain Journey 2016/2022, developing an even more extraordinary, almost luminous red aura after dark.

On Friday 26 August, Up Late will feature the hypermodern sounds of Melbourne-based funk innovator Harvey Sutherland and Toowoomba-based emerging First Nations artist Cloe Terare’s genre-hopping pop, with another compelling Queensland act to be announced.

Saturday 27 August will include the soul-soothing rock of Melbourne’s Jen Cloher, an intimate set from flowerkid, and Beckah Amani’s lush pop-folk fusion.

Inside GOMA on both nights, visitors can drop in to Tea for the Soul to enjoy the simple act of sharing tea with immersive experience designer Dr Sarah Winter, and explore the exhibition to the sound of pop-up piano and strings performances by Joel Woods and Thien Pham.

Good to know - Live music will take place on the outdoor Maiwar Green stage under a marquee with plenty of fresh air and space to move.

Need to know - All payments will be contactless for visitor safety.
