Relics of Brisbane's Trams

Updated: Oct 04, 2025

The Brisbane tram era may be long past, with the last trams trundling along Brisbane streets in 1969, but today relics of the beloved forms of transport can still be found scattered around the city, if you know where to look, From tram posts, heritage-listed shelters and tracks to the Brisbane Tramway Museum, which is home to a collection of trams from the late 1800's to 1960's that you can still ride on Sunday afternoons, here's where to find them:

From 1925 to 1955 trams ran along Cavendish Rd and this red post signifying Stop 26
A quaint pocket park from which there are scenic views of Paddington west to the Border Ranges, Trammies Corner is so named as a tribute to tram drivers.
This double track stretch of rails are the last remaining tram tracks of Brisbane’s Tramways system.
This fascinating outdoor museum is where you can ride restored Brisbane trams

Tram Shelters - Dotted around Brisbane along the thouroughfares where trams once run are a smattering of heritage-listed timber tram shelters, some with ornate woodwork and most with red tiled or tin rooves. Dating from 1915 through to the 1950's today the majority have been converted to bus shelters.
