Powerhouse Farmers Market

Brisbane Powerhouse

Updated: Sep 03, 2021

The Powerhouse Farmers Markets, with the imposing backdrop of the old power station and New Farm Park, are a Brisbane foodie's paradise.

Everything on offer is grown, picked, caught, handcrafted or carefully sourced by the seller – from the berries, tropical fruits, nuts, herbs, vegetables, wine, coffee, meat, honey, pasta, spreads and sauces to the cheese, flowers, fish, artisan bread, cakes… all at prices comparable to supermarket chains, but of a quality that's in another realm.

Not only are the Powerhouse Farmers Markets the ultimate place to stock the fridge and pantry for the week, they are also the perfect place to have breakfast like delicious cooked German sausages, hot dogs, French pastries, hot dumplings (from Steamed), Merlo coffee and the list goes on...

While food is the main drawcard at the Powerhouse Farmers Markets, there are dozens of tasteful stalls peddling items from handmade candles and soaps to designer leather bags, baby clothes and other unique offerings.

Above all, what gives these markets the edge are the stall holders - each more passionate about their offerings than the other. As one of them explains it: “If you’re prepared to get up at 2.30am to be here, you have to love what you do”.

These markets are really worth crossing town for and something Brisbane residents and visitors alike should experience.

Nice to know: The markets are dog-friendly and there's a great dog park nearby for pooches to run around and let their fur down afterwards.
