A chance encounter with a French girl while travelling introduced Graeme Day, owner and chief pilot of Floating Images, to a life-long love affair with hot air ballooning; learning to fly in France, the birthplace of ballooning. In turn this led to Graeme and wife Ruth Day establishing this professional, personalised and friendly boutique 'service with a smile'.
A French journalist described Graeme as “An Australian who is raring to go, with an infectious smile revealing his love of an adventurous life”.
Passengers can be assured that they'll be in very safe hands, as Graeme is a CASA approved chief pilot, who has over 24 years experience on 3 continents, Europe, North America & Australia. Since 2001, he has been based in SE Qld, so he has an intimate knowledge of the region’s weather, geography & history, for this magical, memorable, must-do experience.

The day begins at dawn when Graeme meets and greets guests at Ipswich’s Metro Hotel before transporting them to the departure point (only 3-15 mins drive) where they can assist with inflating the balloon.
Once inflated, with passengers onboard, the basket and balloon lifts off as the sun rises for an amazing adventure over South East Queensland - effortlessly floating over the countryside.
An hour later, the balloon sets down, is deflated and exhilarated guests are whisked away for a fabulous breakfast nearby where they’re presented with their flight certificates. Allow three to four hours for the ballooning program.

*Things to Note: A hot air balloon ride is the perfect way to celebrate a special occasion, from birthdays and anniversaries to Valentine’s Day and Christmas - making it the ideal gift.
