Kalinga Park

Clayfield

Updated: Sep 14, 2024

The showcase family friendly park stretching from Kalinga to Clayfield on Brisbane's northside, Kalinga’s drawcards are many.

Established in 1910, its World war I memorial gates are a fitting grand entry to what lies beyond, from the tree-lined Diggers Drive which was built by unemployed returned World War I soldiers to the myriad of attractions within.

These include a large sandpit, tree houses, a climbing wall, a creek for rock throwing and climbing, dog off-leash enclosure, picnic and barbecue facilities as well as a grid of paved ‘streets’ with stop signs, designed for children on wheels and particularly good for those in need of traffic sense.

All of this is spread over a large shaded grassy space dotted with majestic gum trees and in short is everything a family could conceivably wish for in one outdoor space.

For those who prefer to arrive on two wheels the park is connected to as far away as Boondall Wetlands or nearby Toombul Shopping Centre via the Kedron Brook bikeway.
