Lior & Westlake

Concert Hall, QPAC

Updated: Jul 03, 2025

Australian composer Nigel Westlake and singer-songwriter Lior come together for two stirring performances with Queensland Symphony Orchestra at Concert Hall, QPAC on Saturday, August 9.

Having felt a deep emotional connection to the voice of Lior, composer Nigel Westlake initiated a collaboration that would result in Compassion – their resonant song cycle sourced from ancient Hebrew and Arabic texts, which went on to become an ARIA Award-winning classical album.

Settle back and be enveloped by Lior’s voice in these stunning songs that advocate for peace, wisdom, and love for one another.

Australian composer Mary Finsterer poured compassion and devotion into this first movement of her rich and meditative symphonic work Stabat Mater Symphony, while violin virtuoso Kristian Winther will also spirit you away with Pēteris Vasks’ ethereal concerto Distant Light.
