Shailer Park

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Boasting an array of top-notch sporting facilities, Shailer Pioneer Park is very much designed with movement in mind.

The hero of this master-planned park is undoubtedly the two beautifully-maintained tennis courts. Fully fenced, the courts provide the perfect opportunity for the entire family to get out and have fun while also getting fit. The best part is that they’re free to use and don’t need to be booked in advance. However, if there’s people waiting, court time is restricted to half-hour sessions.

The playground area is partially shaded and includes a cute cubby house fort for the littlies, as well as a more advanced structure, climbing web and flying fox for the older kids. There’s also the usual range of swings and bouncers.

A large grass oval area is perfect for those wanting to run around or kick a ball, while a full-sized basketball court and modern skatepark round out the complement of sporting facilities.

Those just wanting to relax and make a day of it can set up at one of the covered picnic tables or fire up one of the electric barbecues.

A small man-made wetland also occupies the site, and is located just across the grassy field. For easy access to the wetland, follow the concrete path/boardwalk from the main car park. The path extends the whole way around the wetland and is ideally suited to those seeking a short and leisurely walk or ride. If you’ve got a few minutes, it’s well worth pausing at the viewing deck to try and spot some of the many birds, fish and frogs which inhabit the area.
