Jacaranda Season in Brisbane

Updated: Sep 28, 2024

Brisbane's jacaranda season is in full bloom with the magnificent ornamental trees adding a burst of purple to parks and streets. Here's some of the best places around town to view the jacarandas, including three walks:

Home to 146 jacaranda trees, this iconic inner city park is jacaranda central in spring, Take a drive or walk along its beloved jacaranda avenue
This walk starts in the vicinity of Jacaranda Park in Yeronga and follows the river, passing over the Eleanor Schonell Bridge to University Of Queensland's campus with its glorious clusters of jacarandas

Starting from Kangaroo Point's riverfront cafe restaurant Medley KP, which is framed by 2 glorious jacaranda trees, take the gorgeous jacaranda-lined riverside path to Dockside and return

Other good places to view the jacaranda trees include the City Botanic Gardens, and Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens. And, for something completely different, check out the snowy white jacarandas at Roma Street Parkland.

This little stretch of green on the precipice of rocky cliffs carved by an ex-quarry and framed by the Story Bridge is one of Brisbane’s secret parks
Sandwiched between the evergreen Paul’s milk factory, William Jolly Bridge and GOMA is a tiny pocket park where fisherman drop a line and through which the riverside bike and pedestrian track passes on its way to Kurilpa Bridge.
Mowbray Park is a remnant of the riverine estate established in 1850 by the father of East Brisbane Reverend Thomas Mowbray

Also worth looking out for are the jacaranda trees lining Coronation Drive and Gregory Terrace (on the Victoria Park side).
