Brisbane Anywhere Festival
2025
Updated: Jul 14, 2025
The Brisbane Anywhere Festival returns for its 15th year, inviting audiences to experience performances in the most unexpected places from 17 July to 3 August 2025.
With tickets now on sale at anywhere.is, the festival continues its tradition of showcasing theatre, music, dance and storytelling of all genres in unconventional venues across the city.

Building on the success of the 2024 festival in the new July/August period, the 2025 edition promises to deliver even more innovative and immersive experiences with nearly 300 performances in over 100 locations from backyards to bus stops, warehouses to rooftops.

“Anywhere Festival is about breaking down the barriers between performers and audiences,” said Paul Osuch, founder and Artistic Director. “By taking art out of traditional venues and into everyday spaces, we create intimate and memorable experiences that resonate with our community.”
Some highlights of this year's festival include:

Sacred Sonic by Angel Strings. For one night only, St Patrick’s Cathedral is turned into a sonic and visual feast. You can also catch Angel Strings returning to the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium in Mt Coot-tha.

Native Tongue - Migration Stories - The spoken word performance features Vanessa Gordon’s poetry and showcases diverse storytellers sharing their journeys to Queensland. From European roots to the South Pacific, Sri Lanka, parts of Africa, and from across the ditch, Aotearoa.

The Bear Truth presented at the City Botanic Gardens raises the question, who would you prefer to be trapped in the woods with - man or bear? Other big issues in Fat Girl, Too Much Influence, and She Works Hard for (No) Money.

Life and Death is a big theme this year with EDNA-GY, Theatre of the Last Breath, and the return of the full improvised Lifestory.
There is also plenty of silliness from the immersive dance piece in a house (Lamps Are Hot) and the return of Shakespeare meets Star Wars in Bard Wars IV: Hope Renew’d or the cupcake-making vigilante in The Cupcake Killer to name just three of many.

Get involved with the pop up Bus Stop Theatre happening at bus stops around Brisbane or bring your music instrument or vocal chords to the Campfire Jamboree Under The Stars taking in the Brisbane skyline at the old Taubmans Paint Factory in Yeronga.

And did we mention lots of music from album launches under houses Hats Off to the 10 Years anniversary of Muses Trio and The Return (pictured top) - and much, much more!

Unexpected locations include The Planetarium in Mt Coot-tha, St Patrick’s Cathedral, a school rooftop, the Paint Factory in Yeronga, an Annerley Op Shop, community halls and spaces, houses, the City Botanic Gardens and even a historic cellar in West End.
