Island Gondola

Bribie Island

Updated: Oct 03, 2021

Go overseas in the morning, experience a taste of Venice and be home in time for dinner the same day with a Bribie Island Gondola cruise.

'Classique' is a splendid Venetian-style gondola that was originally built in Brisbane and now glides the waters of the Pumicestone Passage around Bribie Island, accommodating up to six passengers.

When owners Melanie and Quinn Pryde first took the plunge and bought it, the boat was in need of much repair. After much effort and TLC, the end result is stunning - an authentic looking gondola that catches the eye as it cruises quietly through the Pumicestone Passage, steered by Quinn who is a qualified coxswain.

The exterior of the gondola is black, gold and burgundy while inside guests get to recline on white leather seating, propped up on beautiful red cushions with elegant silver wallpaper and red velvet as your backdrop. Rich mahogany, twisted struts and a matching timber table add to that feeling of luxury, especially with decadent chocolates on offer, a bottle of bubbles on ice and a cut crystal, lotus flower tea light holder.

A leisurely cruising pace is enhanced by an electric motor ensuring a quiet ride.  Windows either side can be adjusted to suit the weather and climate and overhead cover protects from the hot sun in summer and keeps things cosy and warm in winter.

The glass-like surface of the Passage, the possibility of spotting marine life and the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance highlights the natural beauty right on the doorstep in this scenic and exclusive part of the world.

Whether it's a girly day out, a birthday celebration, a romantic dinner, a family outing or for pure enjoyment, the delightful Melanie and Quinn know how to make a cruise special.  Even if the occasion is just watching the breathtaking sunset light up the sky with vibrant shades of pink and orange, be sure to book as the sunset cruises are sought after.

Need to know:  A selection of food from the Island Gondola menu is available and guests can BYO favourite drinks to accompany. From fresh strawberries and dipping chocolate to breakfast platters and antipasto and cheese or fresh seafood platters, they have something for every occasion.
