As recently as the late ’80’s Sir Joh’s police force regularly raided this cult store in a search for ‘obscene’ material whilst turning a blind eye to the considerable serious vices occurring elsewhere around town. Yet since its start-up in the early days of punk in 1975 it has managed to not only survive but hold its own as the place to go for hard to get imports, rare collectables or anything too obscure for other music shops.

But that’s not all that can be found under its sizable roof – aside from the Top 14, new and used vinyl and CDs of every genre under the sun, Rocking Horse peddles concert tickets, merchandise, DVDs, books and magazines.

For the easily lost this is one place that’s easy to find – just look for the motley slew of assorted punks, goths and alternative types hanging around outside the entrance. Some things never change.
