Qut Art Museum

Tucked away near the entry to QUT on George Street is the QUT ART Museum, which is free to visit and well worth checking out.
The museum's fine collection of 2000 plus contemporary works encompasses sculpture, painting and decorative arts and as such has a strong showing of Australian art from the 1960’s onwards.
The selection of 1910 to the 1950’s may be small but is highly significant, being represented by artistic greats such as Grace Cossington Smith, Lawrence Daws, Kenneth MacQueen and Margaret Preston.
Meantime the Queensland art collection is one of the best to be found in the state with Davida Allen, Kenneth MacQueen, sculptor Daphne Mayo and Margaret Olley some of the artists who hailed from the Sunshine State.
Largely though this art museum is about excellence in contemporary art and its innovative current day exhibitions are well worth a look.
