Kiwanda Cafe
Eagleby
Kiwanda Cafe in Eagleby is a chic, industrial-style cafe housed inside the brand new, multi-million dollar roastery and head quarters of Zarraffa's Coffee.
From a single store in Southport on the Gold Coast, the national coffee company has evolved to open its first licensed cafe offering specialty coffee, delicious food, and bespoke cocktails; from a stunning location beside the Beenleigh Rum Distillery.
Kiwanda (Swahili for factory) is an impressive venue featuring vaulted ceilings, polished concrete flooring, and plush banquette seating around a contemporary fireplace, which gives the cavernous space a cosy quality.
The all-day menu boasts breakfast favourites such as smashed avocado and ricotta served on house-baked sourdough, poached eggs on sourdough with baby spinach and house-made hollandaise, and scrumptious waffles with pockets of caramelised sugar topped with maple whip and seasonal fruit compote.
Lunch-style dishes include a southern friend chicken burger with maple-glazed bacon and slaw served on a charcoal bun with sweet potato waffle fries, and a juicy beef burger topped with melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, beetroot, bacon, caramelised onion and tomato relish on Kiwanda's signature milk bun; while a healthy alternative is the cafe's Goddess Dressed Seasonal Green Bowl - a wholesome bowl of green goodness including kale, broccolini, spinach, zucchini, sugar snap peas, avocado and green apple, drizzled with green goddess dressing.
Drinks wise, coffee aficionados are spoilt for choice with Zarraffa's freshly-roasted signature blends and single origins on offer, plus cold drip, cold brew, nitro brew, and Japanese pour-over.
In addition, Kiwanda is fully-licensed with Burleigh Brewing's beer on tap (including the award-winning Burleigh Black Giraffe coffee lager), a carefully curated wine list, and cocktails from the quintessential Kiwanda espresso martini to the African-inspired Dawa. Swahili for medicine, the Dawa is a delectable concoction of vodka, local honey and lime juice, which comes with a dawa stick so you can stir the honey from the bottom to make it as sweet as you like.
Nice to know - Roastery tours will be available in the near future offering visitors a unique coffee experience, from crop to cup.
