Tony Gould Gallery
Qpac
Located at the base of the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) in South Bank, the Tony Gould Gallery provides Brisbane with entertaining exhibitions relevant to current theatre performances from Australia and around the globe.
Each season, the QPAC Museum curates an exhibition that allows visitors to gain an insight into both the glamour and the dedication that goes on behind the curtains of the incredible shows.
While the exhibitions rotate, the theme remains the same - celebrating the performers, designers and the strong and devoted workforce.
Drawing on the collections and archives of the QPAC Museum as well as guest theatre organisations, common features include genuine garments that illustrate intricate or elaborate designs and impeccable workmanship, original sketches and designs of costumes before production, photographs of performers and technological displays for more in-depth views.
The space at the Tony Gould Gallery is dark and intimate with glossy black walls and fixed frames that almost create a maze or pathway for visitors to wind their way through the exhibition. This allows Brisbane to stop and appreciate each artwork individually.
The artwork spreads out to the hallways of the lower level entrance to the Cremorne Theatre, giving visitors a glimpse of what lies within.
