Australia Independent Film Festival |AIFF| returns to Metro Arts, West End bigger and better than ever from October 25-27, showcasing the very best Australian and international short films, documentaries, animations, experimental films and more.
The highly-acclaimed and internationally recognised “filmmaker’s festival" returns to one of Australia’s coolest venues within one of Brisbane’s coolest art precincts, with a mix of local, national, international and world premieres.
Festival attendees will enjoy a fully curated program of stellar short form documentaries, animations, experimental, and drama films.
The festival also welcomes the return of the SEQ Future Stars, a special program and awards ceremony exclusively for high school students from South East Queensland. This year's AIFF also includes a FREE family friendly session filled with animations and short films from Australia and across the globe.
AROUND THE WORLD - AIFF 2024 kicks off on Friday, October 25 with opening night celebrations. Start your film journey in Queensland, travel around the world with some of the best international shorts, and finish at home again. The bar will be stocked, so grab a drink, sit back and enjoy traversing the globe with a stellar night of films.
SEQ FUTURE STARS - AIFF is proud to present a screening session of the very best short films from South East Queensland high school students in Grades 10 to 12. A panel of industry professionals and respected community members will adjudicate each finalist film as it is live screened. The session will conclude with a very special awards ceremony.
THE SOFA SESSION - The brand new, free, all-ages Sofa Session includes a selection of world-class animations and short films that will bring the whole family together for a fun afternoon.
KEEPING IT REAL - Documentary lovers, this session is for you! Visit Metro Arts for an afternoon dedicated to some amazing true stories sourced from all corners of the globe, as well as a few from our own backyard. You don’t want to miss this opportunity to see some unique stories on screen.
HOME GROWN AUSTRALIAN SHORTS - Last but definitely not least, AIFF will present some of the very best shorts from Brisbane, Queensland, and across Australia. With a session full of thought-provoking stories, the festival will finish on a high with an After Party. Straight after the screening, celebrate the best of the best with AIFF'S awards ceremony before heading to Frydays Bar & Kitchen to send off AIFF24 in style.
Good to know - Metro Arts is a licensed venue. Session time length is approximate. Some films contain coarse language, implied drug usage, nudity, and mild violence and are recommended for a mature aged audience. Please see individual sessions for age recommendations.
Need to know – Ticket prices vary from free to $22.50 plus booking fee depending on the session. Tickets are available online, over the phone 3002 7100 (during business hours 10am-4pm weekdays) and at the box office and bar one hour prior to the event (availability permitting).
