Dohles Rocks Reserve
Griffin
Dohles Rocks Reserve hugs the northern foreshore of North Pine River in Griffin with serene views across to Tinchi Tamba Wetlands as well as Moreton Bay.
The waterfront location means the spot is popular for water-based activities including boating, kayaking and fishing.
There are several boat ramps located along the foreshore which is the perfect base for exploring branches of the North and South Pine Rivers as well as providing convenient water access to Bramble Bay and Moreton Bay Marine Park.
Take along bikes, scooters and a picnic, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the esplanade and especially the children's playground. The play equipment in the sand-based playground overlooks the water and there are plenty of barbecues and undercover picnic tables nearby.
Be sure to stop in at Osprey House Environmental Education Centre, where there are nesting ospreys and bird hides hidden in the mangroves. It is interesting to learn about the local wildlife, watch the live nest cameras and look out for unusual migrating birds.
In a nutshell - Riverside recreational area ideal for foreshore picnics, featuring boat launch ramps, barbecues and a children's playground.
Nice to know - If driving from Brisbane CBD, take the Murrumba Downs Exit off the Bruce Hwy, then turn right following Dohles Rocks Rd. Parking available all along North Pine River's foreshore.
