Nitrogenie Ice Cream
South Bank
NITROGENIE HAS CLOSED ITS SOUTH BANK STORE.
There's ice cream and then there's Nitrogenie, a rich creamy blend based on fresh eggs, cream and real food ingredients that is whipped up theatrically and frozen instantly in a cloud of nitrogen as you wait. The result is a dreamy light as a feather ice cream that emulates the dessert it is based on.
At the Nitrogenie South Bank store, punters order the ice cream flavour of choice and stand by and watch as old-fashioned mixers whir it into shape. Delectable flavours include salty caramel popcorn, lemon meringue pie, sticky date toffee fudge or vanilla beanie and these come in a cup, cone, as a nitro burger (with a macaron in lieu of a bun) or nitro shake.
Need to know: Nitrogenie is not cheap but it's highly addictive, which is why, before the Brisbane store opened, fans would happily drive 2 hours to Noosa to get their fix.
