Roaring Twenties Cinema
Brisbane
Roaring Twenties Cinema is a unique opportunity to enjoy a night at the movies from 100 years ago, screening at theatres around Brisbane.
The nostalgic silent film night, which is organized by Brisbane film buff Joel Archer (of Golden Oldies), is a bi-monthly affair, happening at Palace Cinemas James Street or the Temperance Garden Bar in Arcana event space at Moorooka.
The next screening, on Wednesday 23rd October at 7pm in The Garden Bar, will be the spooky Double Bill:
1) Die große Liebe einer kleinen Tänzerin AKA The Love of the Little Dancer's Life (1924) an extremely rare and spooky German Puppet Short that was miraculously found and restored recently. 17 mins
2) Cat & the Canary 1927: A brilliant spooky caper/ Murder Mystery film set in a Haunted Mansion. 82 mins
Intermission 10 mins
3) Dante's Inferno 1911: A shocking and visually arresting film that follows the adventures of Dante as he travels down the eight realms of hell.
*Couple's tickets are available for $109, including 2 tickets, a hot food platter and a bottle of wine.
Good to know - Joel, who describes the event as ‘the cheapest form of time travel’, has worked with silent film for 15 years and with that runs the unique entertainment company Golden Oldies.
Need to know - There is free parking available onsite and on the street nearby.
