Sacred Sonic: Live Music & Lighting
St Stephen's Cathedral
Angel Strings will merge forces with the resident organist and soprano at St Stephen's Cathedral to create a sensual feast of light and sound on February 14.
The majestic cathedral walls will be bathed in light in response to stirring music by John Taverner, Elgar, Ravel, Philip Glass, Max Richter, Sigur Ros and Hans Zimmer.
The unique 150 year old setting features towering gothic arches, striking stained-glass windows and stunning acoustics. Coupled with the power of the pipe organ (2448 pipes!) and the rich tones of live strings and soprano, the immersive experience is nothing short of transcendent.
Angel Strings is a passionate string quartet who have performed locally and overseas with Opera Queensland, Archie Roach, Guy Sebastian and iconic Persian artist Moein. They have also played at Woodford Folk Festival, Melbourne Planetarium, Crown Casino, on SBS TV and the Candlelight Concert series and will be joined by the esteemed resident organist Dominic Perissinotto and soprano Eva-Marie Perissinotto.
This is an event for classical music lovers and non-classical music lovers alike. It has something for everyone, including lovers of colour and space!
