Fonzie Abbott Espresso

Hamilton

FONZIE ABBOTT HAS CLOSED ITS HAMILTON OUTLET AND EXPANDED INTO AN OLD FACTORY IN ALBION.

A quirkily rustic hut that is roaster, espresso nook and wine bar in one, Hamilton's Fonzie Abbott injects a welcome dose of the 21st century into Racecourse Rd.

Taking centrepiece inside is the hi-tech Giesen roaster, which churns out Fonzie Abbott's own blend of Guatemalan, Brazillian, Cuban and Indonesian beans on Tuesdays and Thursdays and which are also available in-house for sale.

Pull up a chunky wooden stool or metal chair for a coffee or some sustenance in the form of a brekky wrap, Turkish sandwich, spinach and fetta pie, Greek salad or baklava (food is courtesy of owner Dan's family owned Vagelis café next door).

Evenings are a different scene when the wine bar vibe takes over, the lights dim and punters drop by for a wine, Corona, Rogers Ale or Espresso Martini and nibbles such as olives, popcorn or pistachios.

And dogs are welcome to be part of the action any time on the front patio, with bowl of water provided.
