Dancing Bean Roastery & Cafe

Ipswich

Dancing Bean Roastery & Café is Ipswich’s best kept secret – a funky roastery café occupying a rustic ex-workshop down a Top of the Town laneway.

The courtyard of the cafe is shared with German-themed bar eatery Heisenberg Haus and Nourish Café and makes a great hideaway to hang out and enjoy one of the city’s best coffees with a delicious bite to eat.

The award-winning coffee served here is freshly roasted onsite at Ipswich’s only coffee roastery and a range of single origin or house blend is available by the bag (beans or ground) to purchase and take home.

Each week there’s also a Cold Brew of the Week – the perfect way to get a caffeine fix on a hot Ipswich summer day.

Food-wise, the concise all-day menu offers a creative mix of breakfast style dishes such as Banana Bread with creamed cinnamon butter, Brie & Bacon Sandwich (with caramelized onion), Smashed Avo on Sourdough with crumbled fetta and coffee-infused balsamic or Homemade Beans with Toasted Sourdough and Spinach, or a Breakfast Burrito (filled with spinach, scrambled egg, bacon and BBQ sauce).

Lunch style dishes include a Deli Sandwich (ham, pastrami, bacon, cheese, onion, tapenade and rocket pesto), Reuben sandwich (NY style with homemade sauerkraut, pastrami, Swiss cheese, pickles & Russian dressing) or the recommended Pulled Lamb Burger (with feta, roasted beetroot, spinach and chilli jam).

Leave room for sweets as Dancing Bean has some delicious treats on offer – try the house-made Portuguese tarts, Plum and Frangipani tart – otherwise there’s the likes of fudge brownies, dark chocolate mousse, carrot cake, apple strudel or lemon ricotta cake.

As well as coffee, you’ll find pots of tea, Soda Press (including old-fashioned lemonade, pink grapefruit, blueberry and lime or ginger ale), Traditional Sodas (Sarsaparilla, Cloudy Apple and Giner Beer) or Soda Water (Iced, Steaming Hot or Spider).

Nice to know – There’s a corner stash of table games for customers to play.

Need to know – Follow the sign from the street down the laneway and to the left to find it. Dancing Bean is super child friendly, with a Kiddies  chalk board along one wall and some little chairs for kids to play ‘school’, plenty of room for prams, high chairs and a nearby parents/baby change room that is excellent.

Dogs are also welcome here, with a water bowl provided outside.
