Greenhouse Canteen + Bar

South Brisbane

GREENHOUSE CANTEEN + BAR HAS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Greenhouse Canteen + Bar is serving bespoke, plant-based and gluten free dishes and colourful cocktails in their South Brisbane eatery.

The canteen is large with cosy booths to sit in, bar and window seating, as well as dining and large communal tables. Fitting of the restaurant’s vegan theme, there are plants around the eatery, furniture made of natural materials and a large Persian rug for decor. The Botanical Bar is located at the back of the restaurant.

Diners can choose from an array of small plates to share or enjoy as starters, or large plates to indulge in. Their arancini balls are a heavenly place to start, filled with mushroom, sage and cashew parmesan.

Another small plate to tuck in to is Greenhouse’s zucchini flowers, which are stuffed with almond feta and served with a dill crème.

As the main meal don’t go past their jackfruit enchilada. It’s an avalanche of smoked jackfruit, black beans, turmeric rice, avocado salsa, sour crème and pickled cabbage.

Believe it or not, this vegan eatery can make a killer dessert. Try Greenhouse’s version of a berry cheesecake… it’s the perfect size to enjoy after a delicious plant-based feast.

You can’t go past the Botanical Bar cocktail menu either. The Drake 19 is a must try, with its blend of passionfruit, vanilla, vodka and lime, it’s also served with a wine spritzer which helps cleanse the palate between bites of food.

If you’re looking for something non-alcoholic, try their pink grapefruit and elderflower spritz (spirits can be added if requested).

Need to know – nearby street parking is available, as well as centre parking in the SW1 building.
