Queens Park

Toowoomba

Updated: Nov 18, 2018

Taking a peaceful stroll through the gardens of Queens Park has been a popular activity for over a century for Toowoomba locals.

The park, which was originally a Crown Reserve, was given to the Toowoomba Council for their management in 1865.

Since this day, Queens Park has become the home to individuals, couples, families and friends who take advantage of the magic and beauty that lines its broad avenues.

Towering grand old trees from around the world, including Europe and Asia, that were planted in 1875, can be seen shading those leisurely strolling by.

Carefully tended flowerbeds, lush lawns, garden statues and water features provide an oasis like no other.

For a stopping point mid-walk, the Parterre Garden provides exposed aggregate paths where flower enthusiasts can appreciate low-growing plants. Established in 1995, this garden features the principal gardening skill of the late 17th century and is a highlight of Queens Park.

Need to know: To access Parterre Garden, the most stunning entrance is via the steps leading down from the Lindsay Street entrance.
