One of Queensland’s oldest licensed pubs, the Grand View Hotel began life as a single storeyed structure in 1852 and today is one of Cleveland’s oldest surviving buildings, has just reopened after a multi-million dollar makeover.
Long gone are the bathing house and nearby jetty and much of the original character however the year-long refurbishment has included the preservation of its heritage-listed hallway and Cleveland Room, as well as the uncovering of a 170 year old well, dating from 1855.
The revamped Grand View Hotel features a host of updated bar spaces and amenities including a stunning new-look pavilion style eatery and beer garden, which enjoys views across Moreton Bay to Minjerribah-North Stradbroke Island.
A range of seating is available on the grass overlooking the bay, along with a big screen for live sports, while a purpose-built self-contained function space out the back features seating for around 120 guests, complete with its own bar and restrooms.
The kitchen is equipped with Australia’s largest rotisserie oven, a Josper rotisserie grill, and an Italian Rotary Pizza Oven, serving up fresh rotisserie dishes, pizzas, pub favourites, pasta, and share plates.
On the menu you'll find smaller share plates like pork belly bao, chicken & corn gyoza and lamb nachos; and salads such as grilled salmon or Asian duck noodle.
A selection of seafood dishes includes sesame crusted squid; bug rolls, housemade prawn spring rolls; and garlic butter scallops; along with 1kg mussel pot (with choice of 2 sauces) or the house signature Seafood Platter.
There's also a small choice of pasta dishes including lamb ragu; wagyu bolognese; and burrata pesto; pub classics such as chicken schnitzel or fish and chips; and pizzas with toppings of BBQ chicken, chilli prawn, seasonal mushroom, pepperoni or margherita.
The delicious range of burgers includes honey chipotle chicken, pumpkin & chickpea; and cheeseburgers as well as rib fillet sandwich and rotisserie roll (house cooked rotisserie chicken on a long roll with gravy & mayonnaise).
From the Josper Grill there's Sirloin, Rib Fillet, Eye Fillet or Wagyu Rump, served with house salad, chips and butter or sauce; and from the Josper Rotisserie there's the signature half or whole rotisserie chicken, served with roast vegetable, chips and gravy.
On the drinks side, a cutting-edge beer system with double the taps, new beer lines, and multiple service points, including a dedicated outdoor bar, ensures crisp, cold drinks with minimal wait. Along with beer and a curated wine list of mostly Australian and NZ wines, a range of cocktails includes classics along with Spritzes and the house signatures - Gumtree Gimlet, Moreton Margarita and The Mango's New Drove.
Good to know - There's also a kids menu and a Seniors menu, as well as a kids play area and live music from Thursday to Sunday.
