Children’s Art Centre Goma
South Brisbane
Australia’s only state-of-the-art, purpose-built activity centre within an art gallery, is the brilliant Children’s Art Centre at GOMA, with 2 floors of exhibition-related multi-media artistic pursuits to keep children (and often teens and adults) occupied for hours.
From Andy Warhol’s Silver Factory to Ghostworld and the quirky interactive Asia Pacific Triennial offerings, the Children's Art Gallery takes on a personality of its own during major touring shows, often with a spill over of themed activities into the QAG.
All installations and activities are created by selected artists, featuring anything from making a dance video, an alien friend, a shadow puppet or origami fruit bat to experiencing an earthquake in a ghost town is a possibility, depending on what’s in show.
Even if the exhibition is by ticket entry only, the Children’s Art Centre is always free.
